aaand we’ve got a public release, this time with better speed/color-scheme and added sound-effects, game over screen, etc. – this is now a complete game, i.e. all I set it out to be. Now, soon, I am able to start shaping it into ‘something else’, as well (I have plans:). But all in all, this was the game I drew out on paper those many years ago.

First Test

I am currently in the process of realizing a game that I have had in mind for several years. This does not mean that Space Jesus: Episode 2 is not happening, it just means that I have more games in mind and as I’m still getting to grips with making games in general, I find it a good exercise, which will most likely be very useful for Space Jesus: Episode 3, if nothing else (yes – it is a planned trilogy, thus far)

I’m just gonna go ahead and post my WIP mock up of Episode 2, as to have a point of reference for future posts. Keep in mind that this is just my ‘vision’ of the game and not an actual screenshot – graphics will be far superior! HA! (No, but seriously – it will keep in line with Episode 1, although at the moment the sprites are much smaller, since I kinda want it to work well with mobile devices as well… but we’ll see about that – either way, without further ado:

‘Episode 2’ (WIP)

I have been working on and off with Episode 2 for quite some time and while I do have both the concept and some sketches done for it, I am still working out some kinks with the fundamental control-scheme (much like ‘Episode 1’, this one will feature a unique control-scheme/mechanic)
Whereas Episode 1 was inspired by Gauntlet and various SHMUPS, Episode 2 will be more akin to ‘Cave explorers’ like H.E.R.O., Airwolf and other titles from the early-mid 80s.
It is a work in progress, but it is in progress – I will show some artwork, etc. soon enough – for now, I’m still polishing a few things with Episode 1, before I can call it ‘final version’.
All in due time, since family must come first.

Version 55 – “Amalgamation” [out for Android, Linux & Windows NOW]

  • Fixed the High-score -saver
  • Increased the size of the ‘touch’ -area for turning Left/Right on Android Port
  • (Finally) Added level-transition screens in Wave-mode
  • Blowing up Alien Spaceships now give you 1/6th HaloBlast -boost
  • (Hopefully) fixed the HaloBlast once and for all (so that it [sticks] to the player at all times)
  • Satan is now destroyed by HaloBlast
  • Android/Linux/Windows now on same version number (Currently v55)
