Changelog:
version17:
tweaked the level so that you can now (once again) ‘fall’ down the ladder
tweaked the gun, so that the bullet exits the actual barrel
it is now possibly to shoot and kill yourself
a tombstone now appears on the graveyard for every life that you lose
players now respawn outside of the bar

I had to resize everything by 400% in order to get proper collision-detection; this will give me more flexibility, but does irk me, since I was aiming for very minimalist. As a player you won’t notice any difference, only to me as a developer, so don’t worry
Apart from that, here’s the current changelog:

version 1:
added Player 1 and background

version 2:
added Player 2 and animations

version 3:
added climbing and stabbing animation

version 4:
added bullets

version 5:
fire gun in proper direction

version 6:
added proper firing-animation and bullets

version 7:
added foreground cacti and tombstones
3 lives and respawn

version 8:
various tweaks

version 9:
added icons for health
reworked some under the hood stuff

version 10:
added stabbing – now you can actually stab your opponent to death
added death animation

version11:
added limited ammo (6 bullets each, magazine refilled when you respawn)
added better icon
added proper gamepad/keyboard -controls; if gamepad attached that will be used, else keyboard
rebound keys for player 1: “C” Jump, “V” Fire, “B” Stab (WASD to move)

version12:
removed unneccesary code/cleaned things up

version13:
tweaked the speed and jump of the players
added different colored hats as lives, rather than the red cross
Added visual ammo-counter

added escape-key to quit game
added “Player X Wins!” -Screen
changed color of Player 1
cleaned up some more code

bullets now have a chance of ‘deflecting’ off of one another
players now respawn at the graveyard
cleaned up some more code, etc.

resized everything by 400%, in order to get proper collision-detection, unfortuately, but at least it gives me a lot more flexibiliy
worked out some kinks withi how the level was designed
cleaned up some more code
